How to book your holiday
Telephone our UK office on 01373 814200 to discuss your exact requirements and to check the availability of accommodation. Alternatively e-mail us at planosholidays@planos.co.uk Once you have made a telephone booking then send in the completed and signed booking form together with your deposits and any travel insurance premiums. A confirmation invoice will be sent out to you within 14 working days of receipt of the booking form. This will give full details of your holiday reservation together with the cost. It will also advise you when full payment must be made. Please ensure that you check all details carefully. We are normally happy to give options of up to 48 hours to allow you more time to make your decision.
How to pay
Most people prefer to pay by cheque drawn on an British bank but we are able to accept payment by credit card issued by Visa, Access or Mastercard. Credit card payments will incur a 2% surcharge. We can also take payment by Maestro or debit card for which there is no surcharge.
The journey to Paxos
From the UK
We shall be operating Monday morning flights from Gatwick with
Monarch Air and from Manchester with Thomsonfly. The
Manchester flight supplement will be a minimum of £50 per
person. These flights are scheduled to arrive at Corfu between
1100 and 1300.
From Corfu Airport
You will be met by our experienced British staff and will be taken by
coach or taxi to our privately chartered ferry which will be waiting at
the New Port in Corfu Town. Your luggage will be loaded on board by the
crew and the expected departure time for Paxos, allowing for the arrival
of all incoming aircraft from the UK, will be around 1400. Once your bags
are on board the ferry they will be supervised by the crew so you are free
to wander off to local cafes or tavernas rather than wait on the boat.
On the way to the port you will be advised by our staff at what time to
be back on board in readiness for the two-hour trip to Paxos.
On the journey down to Paxos you can sit in the open on deck or in the saloon where there is a small bar serving drinks and nibbles. The ferry will call at both Lakka and Loggos and, on arrival, you will be met by more of our staff who will accompany you to your accommodation. If you are arriving on Corfu on a different, or later regional flight you will also be met at the airport and transfer arrangements for your onward journey to Paxos will be made for you. This is most likely to be by public hydrofoil to Gaios where you will be met and escorted to your accommodation.
Return from Paxos
On departure day most clients will leave Paxos on the
same private charter boat which will arrive back in Corfu Town at about
0930. From there you will be taken by coach to the airport to check in
for your return flight to the UK. Other clients, depending on the timing
of their return flight, will be transported by earlier or later public
hydrofoil.
Flights from regional airports
We are able to arrange flights from some regional airports, subject to availability and the payment of regional flight supplements. In addition to Gatwick and Manchester, we can also offer flight options from Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Glasgow and Newcastle. Should you choose one of these options we will check availability and will discuss any timing or cost implications with you before booking.
Duration of holiday/occupation of properties
The price list covers one and two-week holidays for the number of occupants stated. If you wish to stay for longer periods, or with a different number of occupants please discuss this with us.
Large parties
If you are organising a large party or several families please contact us for suggestions as it is possible to combine different villas or apartments together to form single units for large bookings. Please remember that reservations for large parties should be made as early as possible.
Villa rental only
It is sometimes possible for clients travelling from other countries direct to Paxos, or those wishing to drive or make their own travel arrangements, to rent a villa without flights or transfers. Please ask us for prices and availability.
Child discounts
Children under two on the date of the return flight will be charged £50 to include the hire of a cot with linen. Dependent offspring under the age of 21 and in full time education are eligible for discounts as indicated by the price list. These discounts may not apply in full if the property is underoccupied, or for a one-week holiday. Check with us for details.
Brochure prices
The published price for clients buying a full package holiday includes: Return day flights from Gatwick to Corfu on our contract flight with Monarch Air, transfers from Corfu to Paxos, airport security charges and baggage handling costs, accommodation costs, hire car where stated, electricity, linen and towels, maid service and representative services. All airport taxes and departure taxes are included in our prices as are current airline surcharges. CLIENTS TRAVELLING FROM ANY OTHER AIRPORT THAN GATWICK OR FROM GATWICK BUT ON A DIFFERENT FLIGHT THAN MENTIONED ABOVE MAY INCUR FLIGHT SUPPLEMENTS WHICH WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE TIME OF BOOKING.
On arrival at your accommodation
For 2009 we will be offering clients a pre-holiday shopping service so that, on arrival in Paxos, we can arrange to supply your choice of provisions. With your tickets and travel documentation you will receive a shopping order form, from which you can select from a standard list of items. Payment for this will be required locally. All village shops will re-open at 1800 and you will find cafes open all day if you would prefer to eat out.
Maid service
Maid service will consist of a quick whisk around, making beds, a little washing up and a twice-weekly linen change. Maid service will be provided six times a week.
Villa information
In each of our villas, houses and apartments you will find a folder giving a great deal of helpful local information about tavernas, shops, buses, beaches, excursions, churches, banking hours etc.
Hotels and guest houses
Clients may be interested in overnight accommodation near Gatwick airport on the night prior to departure. We keep a small list of hotel accommodation and are happy to make our recommendations to you, or you may like to log on to www.gatwickhotels.co.uk/
One of our favourite B&Bs is the family-run Waterhall Country House, which we have used for many years and offers free Gatwick transfers for guests using their parking facility.
Travel documentation
All travel documents i.e. airline tickets, luggage labels, travel insurance policy, full itinerary and check-in details will be forwarded to you about two weeks prior to departure. It is your responsibility to check these to ensure their accuracy.
Passports and visas
British citizens need a full 10-year passport, valid for the duration of the holiday, but there is no visa requirement. It is recommended that the expiry date of the passport should be no less than six months from the intended date of return to the UK. Children under 16 (including infants) who are not currently on their parents` passport will require their own passport. If any member of your party is not a British citizen or does not hold a British passport they must satisfy themselves as to any visa requirements by consulting the Greek Embassy or Consulate.
Airport representation
For 2009 we will be represented as usual by our agents SKYTIME. At Gatwick Dave Hilton and Lynne Easton will be checking in our clients on our Monday morning flight with Monarch Air and at Manchester Sue Aitken will be representing us at check-in for our flight with Thomsonfly. Please note however, that they can only be of service to you before you go through passport control to International Departures.
Vaccinations
No vaccinations are required but you should consult your GP if you have any medical questions about your holiday.
Baggage allowances
The allowance per passenger on our charter flight is 20 kilos (44 pounds) and this will be strictly enforced. There is no allowance for infants under two years. Each passenger is allowed one small item of hand luggage weighing up to 5 kilos, which must be able to fit under the seat or in the overhead lockers. No dimension of this luggage should exceed 115 cms (45 inches). In addition, each passenger will be allowed one normal sized carrier bag for duty-free goods.
Books and maps
"Exploring Paxos and Anti-Paxos" and "The Bleasdale Walking Map of Paxos" are two of the most definitive works on the island that exist. Both are recommended and can be purchased from us here in the UK. Please tick the appropriate box on the booking form.
DVD
We have made a short DVD about Planos Holidays and Paxos and these are available to purchase or borrow on request from our UK office. We have also put this on our website.
